Last Event Before Christmas

and bamboozled by the mystery surrounding whisky appreciation.
A Blind Whisky Tasting will sort the men from the boys.

Come and find out how to measure alcoholic strength, age and density of
your preferred dram. You will never look at whisky the same way again.

The winner of the Spirit of Speyside Festival is Chris Brennan, Bar Manager of The Highlander Inn, Craigellachie, Speyside. The winning recipe, called The Highland Flames, caught the imagination of the judges because it captured the Speyside taste.

In Chris’s recipe, all of the flavours came together in one powerfully seductive flavour burst.

Highland Flames

35ml Speyside Selected Malt Whisky
5ml Macallan Amber Liqueur

15ml apple and melon Juice

Top up with ginger ale. Serve in the Glencairn Whisky glass and flame an orange twist for the spectacle.

Why should you become a member?

The UKBG has plenty opportunities this year to put its members through Cocktail Competitions. There are two competitions at Scothot, and one cocktail competition at SLTN show 2007. There is also the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Cocktail Recipe competition, and the UKBG National Cocktail Competition. Plus the Calvados Nouvelle Vogue Cocktail Competition to be held in March.

Why should you participate in activities proposed by the Guild in 2007?

Without its members the Guild is not a Guild. The Guild is here for its members and its members will endeavour to participate in its activities.

Why should you propose to help develop the UKBG Scottish Area in 2007?

With your participation and your ideas for the future, the Guild will move forward.

Members! Please assist by participating in the activities and join with the Guild to build on product knowledge and training for your team members’ career development.

What are we up to now?

  • Potential of a Cocktail TV program with the involvement for Scottish Area TBC is an on-going discussion.
