National Cocktail Competition is in Orbit!

The first heat of the UKBG/Sputnik National Cocktail Competition was held on Monday 8th in Edinburgh. The winner was Jamie MacDonald of Rick’s Bar in Edinurgh.with his cocktail Hibiscus Perm; the second place was David Fowlds with Spicy Rose, and the Wild Card of the day was Massimo Lisi with his concoction, Red Planet.

There was a fantastic spirit in the air at the competition with a large group of cheering supporters — family, friends and teammates turned out in typical Scottish style. President of the UKBG, Salvatore Calabrese, said the standard of cocktails was high and they expected the competition to remain fierce as they moved to Manchester for the second heat. Then, it was party night at the venue until the wee small hours.

Hibiscus Perm

  • 4cl Sputnik vodka
  • 1.5cl cherry Marnier
  • 2cl hibiscus syrup
  • 4.5cl pomegranite juice
  • dash pasturized egg white

Garnished with a hibiscus flower, a sugared rim and fresh Scottish berries.

Spicy Rose

  • 1.5cl Sputnik rose-flavored vodka
  • 2 lemon wedge
  • dash bitters
  • ginger ale
