  • 4cl Campari
  • 2cl limoncello

  • tonic water

Pour the Campari directly into a highball filled with ice. Add the limoncello and lemon juice. Top up with tonic water. Stir. Squeeze a wedge of lime over the drink and then drop it in the drink.

  • 3cl gin

  • 6cl Canadian Club whisky
  • 3cl dry vermouth

Margarita, Fresh Fruit of Your Choice

Always use quality fresh, soft fruit.

  • 1 piece fruit, diced
  • 6cl gold tequila
  • 3cl Cointreau
  • 3cl fresh lime juice

Rub a wedge of lime around the rim of a Margarita glass. Dip it into a saucer of caster sugar.

Muddle the chopped fruit and other ingredients in the shaker. Add a scoop of ice. Shake. Strain into the glass. Garnish with a wedge of lime.

Margarita, Cactus Pear

  • 4cl silver tequila
  • 2cl Cointreau
  • 1cl fresh lime juice
  • 1 ripe cactus pear, peeled and diced

Rub a wedge of lime around the rim of a Margarita glass. Dip it into a saucer of caster sugar.

Muddle the pear pieces in the shaker, without ice. Add a scoop of ice and the other ingredients. Shake. Strain into the glass. Mash the pulp left in the strainer to add the last drops of flavor. Garnish with a wedge of lime.

Margarita, Golden

  • 5cl gold tequila
  • 3cl Grand Marnier
  • 2cl fresh lime juice

Margarita, Hibiscus

  • 4cl gold tequila
  • 1.5cl Cointreau

  • 3cl strong, sweetened hibiscus tea, cooled

  • 5cl silver tequila

Frozen Margaritas

A frozen version is made in a blender using fresh fruit, a liqueur the flavor of the fruit, and crushed ice.

Blackberry Margarita

  • 5cl silver tequila
  • 1.5cl blackberry liqueur
  • 1.5cl fresh lime juice
  • handful fresh backberries

Pour all ingredients into a blender with crushed ice. Blend. Pour into a Margarita glass. Garnish with two blackberries and a sprig of mint on a cocktail stick set across the glass. Serve with a straw.

Peach Margarita

  • 4cl silver tequila
  • 1.5cl Cointreau
  • 1.5cl peach schnapps
  • 1cl fresh lime juice
  • 1 peach, peeled and diced

Put the diced peach into the blender. Blend. Add a scoop of crushed ice. Blend again. Pour into a Margarita glass. Garnish with a wedge of peach. Serve with a straw.

Melon Margarita

  • 4cl tequila
  • 1.5cl Cointreau
  • 1/2oz /1.5cl melon liqueur
  • 1cl fresh lime juice
  • few slices yellow melon, diced

Put all ingredients into a blender. Blend. Add a scoop of crushed ice. Blend again. Pour into a Margarita glass. Garnish with several small and different colored balls of melon on a cocktail stick. Serve with a straw.

Martinez

  • 3cl gin
  • 3cl dry vermouth
  • 2cl maraschino liqueur
  • 2 dashes orange bitters

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon.

Martini

  • 9cl gin
  • 1 to 2 drops extra dry vermouth

Take a chilled cocktail glass from the freezer, handling it by the stem only. Pour the chilled gin directly into the glass. Fill a clean Angostura bitters bottle with dry vermouth so that you can shake a few drops of vermouth through its pourer into the gin. Float two to three drops of vermouth over the top of the drink.

Cut a thin twist of lemon, then face the twist upside down over the glass and twist it to drop a few tears of juice in the drink. Rub the twist around the rim. An olive is optional.

Matador

  • 6cl gold tequila
  • 2cl triple sec/Cointreau
  • 2cl fresh lime juice
  • 5oz/15cl pineapple juice

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a highball filled with ice. Garnish with a wedge of lime.

Meg's Mania

  • 5cl vodka
  • 1cl sake
  • 1cl cranberry juice
  • 3cl fresh lime juice
  • champagne

Pour all ingredients, except champagne, into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a champagne flute. Top up with champagne. Stir. Make a lime spiral with a zester. Place this on the rim of the glass and let it trail down the side.

Melon Ball

  • 3cl vodka
  • 2cl melon liqueur
  • 10cl pineapple juice

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a highball filled with ice. Garnish with a couple of tiny balls of melon, in different colors if possible, on a cocktail stick. Serve with a straw and a stirrer.

Melon Ball Shooter

  • 2cl vodka
  • 2cl melon liqueur
  • 2cl fresh orange juice

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a shot glass.

Melon Breeze

  • 6cl melon vodka
  • 9cl fresh grapefruit juice
  • 9cl cranberry juice

Pour all ingredients into a highball filled with ice and stir. Garnish with a melon ball on a cocktail stick.

Melon GT Slammer

  • 2cl melon liqueur
  • 1cl gold tequila
  • tonic water

Pour all ingredients, except tonic water, into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a shot glass. Top up with tonic water.

Melon Martini

  • 5cl vodka
  • quarter slice watermelon
  • dash fresh lemon juice

Put the melon in the bottom of the shaker. Muddle to release the flavor and color. Add ice cubes and vodka. Shake. Strain into a cocktail glass.

Melon Punch

Serves 6

  • 24cl vodka
  • 10cl melon liqueur
  • 4cl peach schnapps
  • 5cl fresh lemon juice
  • 50cl ginger beer
  • 1 kiwifruit
  • 6 strawberries, diced

Pour all ingredients, except ginger beer, into a pitcher. Stir. Add ice to a punch bowl. Add the mixture, and fill with ginger beer. Add the diced fruit. Stir. Serve in wine glasses.

Melon Sour

  • 3cl melon liqueur
  • 3cl fresh orange juice
  • 3cl fresh lime juice
  • 3cl pasteurised egg white

Pour all ingredients into shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into an old-fashioned glass filled with ice.

Mellow Martini

  • 4cl vodka
  • 1.5cl lychee liqueur
  • 1.5cl crème de bananes (banana liqueur)
  • 3cl pineapple juice

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a cocktail glass.

Merry Widow

  • 3cl vodka
  • 3cl Dubonnet
  • 3cl dry vermouth
  • dash orange bitters

Pour all ingredients into a mixing glass with ice. Stir. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon.

Metropolitan

  • 5cl blackcurrant vodka
  • 2cl Cointreau
  • 3cl cranberry juice

  • 3cl gold tequila
  • 3cl rum
  • 2cl banana syrup
  • 2cl blackberry syrup
  • 3cl fresh lime juice
  • 5 fresh strawberries

Pour all ingredients into a blender with crushed ice. Blend. Pour into a colada glass. Garnish with a strawberry.

Mexican Sal

  • 6cl aged tequila
  • 3cl Campari

Pour all ingredients into a mixing glass with ice. Stir. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist of lime.

Mexican Sloe Screw

  • 5cl silver tequila
  • 1.5cl sloe gin
  • 9cl fresh orange juice

Pour the tequila and orange juice into a highball filled with ice. Stir. Float the sloe gin on top. Serve with a stirrer.

Midsummer's Night Dream

  • 5cl silver tequila
  • 1.5cl pineapple juice
  • 1.5cl fresh lime juice
  • dash grenadine

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a cocktail glass.

Midnight Joy

  • 2cl Irish cream liqueur
  • 2cl white crème de cacao
  • 2cl black sambuca

Pour each ingredient, in the order listed, over the back of a barspoon into a shot glass.

Midnight Snowstorm

  • 5cl white crème de menthe
  • hot chocolate
  • whipped cream

Pour the crème de menthe into a heatproof toddy glass. Top up with hot chocolate and float the whipped cream over the top.

Midnight Temptation

  • 3cl apricot brandy liqueur
  • 2cl ruby port
  • 2cl double cream
  • 2cl Kahlua

Pour the apricot brandy, port, and cream into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a cocktail glass. Gently float the Kahlua on top.

Millionaire No. 2

  • 6cl rye whiskey
  • 1.5cl triple sec/Cointreau
  • dash pastis
  • 1 teaspoon eggwhite powder

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.

Million-Dollar Cocktail

  • 3cl gin
  • dash sweet vermouth
  • dash dry vermouth
  • 12cl pineapple juice
  • 1 teaspoon eggwhite powder
  • dash Angostura bitters

Pour the gin and both vermouths into a shaker filled with ice. Add the pineapple juice, egg white powder, and bitters. Shake sharply to create a froth. Strain into a highball filled with ice.

Mimosa

  • 6cl fresh orange juice
  • 2 dashes Grand Marnier
  • champagne

Fill a champagne flute to one quarter with orange juice. Add the Grand Marnier. Top up with champagne. Stir.

Mint Julep

  • 5cl bourbon
  • bunch fresh mint leaves
  • 1 teaspoon caster sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cold water
  • soda water

Place the mint in an old-fashioned glass. Add the sugar and water. Muddle until the sugar is dissolved. Add the bourbon. Fill the glass with crushed ice. Stir. Garnish with a sprig of mint. Serve with a straw and a stirrer.

Mojito

  • 5cl white rum
  • 1 teaspoon caster sugar
  • 2cl fresh lime juice
  • bunch fresh mint on the stem
  • sparking water

Put the sugar and lime juice in the bottom of a highball with a thick base. Add the mint leaves and muddle with the end of a barspoon or a wooden muddler. This releases the essence from the mint. Add the rum and fill the glass with crushed ice. Top up with sparkling water. Stir. Serve with a stirrer.

Mojito, Pink

  • 5cl white rum
  • 1 teaspoon caster sugar
  • 3cl fresh lime juice
  • sprig fresh mint leaves
  • dash cranberry juice
  • dash sparkling water

Put the sugar and lime juice in the bottom of a highball. Add the mint leaves and muddle. Add the rum and fill the glass with crushed ice. Add a dash of cranberry juice. Top up with sparkling water. Stir. Serve with a stirrer.

Mojito Martini

  • 5cl white rum infused with fresh mint
  • 2cl fresh lime juice
  • dash gomme syrup

Place a few large sprigs of mint in a bottle of white rum to infuse for just a day. Then remove the mint or it will spoil and taint the rum.

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a cocktail glass. Gently press a leaf of mint on the inside of the glass by the rim. Don't worry-it will stay in place.

Mojito Special

  • 3cl dark rum
  • few sprigs of mint
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 10cl ginger beer

Put the sugar and lime juice in the bottom of a highball. Add mint leaves and muddle. Add the rum and fill the glass with crushed ice. Top it up with ginger beer. Stir. Serve with a stirrer.

Monte Rosa

  • 4cl vodka
  • 2cl triple sec/Cointreau
  • 2cl Campari
  • 2cl fresh orange juice

Pour all ingredients in a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist of orange.

Monza

  • 2cl vodka
  • 2cl crème de cassis (black-currant liqueur)
  • 8cl fresh grapefruit juice

Pour all ingredients in an old-fashioned glass filled with crushed ice. Stir to create the color. Serve with a straw.

Morning Glory

  • 5cl brandy
  • 2cl orange curaçao
  • 2cl fresh lemon juice
  • 8 dashes pastis
  • 4 dashes Angostura bitters

Pour all ingredients into a shaker filled with ice. Shake. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon.

Moscow Mule

  • 5cl vodka
  • 1cl fresh lime juice
  • ginger beer

Pour the vodka and the lime juice into a highball filled with ice. Top up with ginger beer. Stir. Garnish with a wedge of lime in the drink. Serve with a stirrer.

Moulin Magic

  • 2cl brandy
  • 12cl pineapple juice
  • prosecco

Pour the brandy and pineapple juice into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a highball filled with ice. Top up with prosecco. Stir. Garnish with a stem of red currants sitting on the rim.

Mulled Wine

Serves 8

  • 1 bottle dry red wine
  • 5cl brandy
  • 5cl Grand Marnier
  • 2 teaspoons caster sugar
  • 3 teaspoons clear honey
  • 6cl fresh orange juice
  • 6cl fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • fewcloves
  • few star anise
  • 2 bay leaves

Put the spices together in a small cheesecloth spice bag. Place in a saucepan with the red wine, brandy, and Grand Marnier. Add the sugar and honey. Stir until both are dissolved. Add the juices. Simmer for 11/2 hours stirring from time to time. Serve in a heatproof wine glass. Garnish with a slice of lemon with cloves pressed into the peel.
