  • Jack Rose

  • 5cl applejack brandy
  • 1cl grenadine
  • 2cl fresh lime juice
  • dash gomme syrup

Rub a wedge of lime around the rim of a cocktail glass and dip it in a saucer of caster sugar.

Pour all ingredients into a shaker filled with ice. Shake. Strain into a cocktail glass.

Jade

  • 4cl white rum
  • 1.5cl green crème de menthe
  • 1.5cl blue curaçao
  • 2cl Rose's lime cordial
  • dash gomme syrup

Rub a wedge of lime around the rim of the glass to moisten it. Dip it into a saucer of superfine (caster) sugar to create a frosted rim. Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a cocktail glass.

Jaded Lady

  • 3cl gin
  • 3cl blue curaçao
  • 3cl advocaat
  • 4cl fresh orange juice

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a cocktail glass.

Jacuzzi

  • 3cl gin
  • 2cl peach schnapps
  • 3cl fresh orange juice
  • champagne

Pour all ingredients, except champagne, into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a champagne flute. Stir gently. Top up with champagne. Stir.

Jamaican Mule

  • 5cl dark Jamaican rum
  • 2cl fresh lime juice
  • ginger beer

Pour the rum and lime juice into a highball filled with ice. Top up with ginger beer. Stir. Garnish with a wedge of lime dropped in the drink.

Ja-mora

  • 3cl vodka
  • 3cl fresh orange juice
  • 3cl clear apple juice
  • 3cl crème de framboise (raspberry liqueur)
  • champagne

Pour all ingredients, except champagne, into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a champagne flute. Then carefully float the champagne over a barspoon to create a two-layered drink.

Japanese Slipper

  • 5cl gold tequila
  • 3cl melon liqueur
  • 2cl fresh lime juice
  • dash gomme syrup

Rub a wedge of lime around the rim of a cocktail glass. Dip it into a saucer of caster sugar.

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into the glass.

Japanese Spring Punch

  • To make in bulk, multiply the ingredients by the number of guests.
  • 5cl raspberry sake
  • 2cl crème de framboise (raspberry liqueur)
  • 3cl fresh lemon juice
  • 3cl raspberry purée
  • 1cl gomme syrup
  • champagne

Pour all ingredients, except champagne, into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a highball. Top up with champagne and a tiny layer of crushed ice. Garnish with two straws, two slices of lemon, and three raspberries.

Jerry's Special

  • 3cl dark rum
  • 1cl Cointreau
  • 2cl cranberry juice
  • 1cl passionfruit juice
  • dash grenadine

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a cocktail glass.

Joe Collins

  • 6cl vodka
  • 4 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 3cl fresh lemon juice
  • 2cl Roses's lime cordial
  • dash gomme syrup
  • soda water

Pour all ingredients, except soda, into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a highball filled with ice. Top up with soda. Stir. Garnish with a slice of lemon and a maraschino cherry.

John Daniels

  • 4cl Jack Daniels whiskey
  • 2cl amaretto
  • 1cl fresh lemon juice
  • ginger ale

Put the whiskey, amaretto, and lemon juice into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a highball with ice and top up with ginger ale. Garnish with a slice of orange dropped in the drink.

Journalist

  • 5cl gin
  • 1clsweet vermouth
  • 1cl dry vermouth
  • dash triple sec/Cointreau
  • dash fresh lemon juice
  • 2 drops Angostura bitters

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist of orange.

Julep Martini

  • 6cl bourbon
  • sprig fresh mint
  • 1cl gomme syrup

Muddle the mint with bourbon in a shaker. Add ice and shake. Strain into a cocktail glass. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint.

Juliet

A sweet cocktail with an intriguing color and the taste of pineapple.

  • 3cl gold tequila
  • 2cl Pisang Ambon
  • 3cl pineapple juice
  • dash grenadine

Pour all ingredients into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a cocktail glass.

Juniper Royale

  • 3cl gin
  • 1.5cl fresh orange juice
  • 1.5cl cranberry juice
  • dash grenadine
  • champagne

Pour all ingredients, except champagne, into a shaker with ice. Shake. Strain into a champagne flute. Stir gently. Top up with champagne. Stir.

Just Peachy

  • 5cl bourbon
  • 1.5cl peach schnapps
  • 12cl fresh orange juice

Pour the bourbon and orange juice into a highball filled with ice. Float the peach schnapps over the top of the drink. Garnish with a wedge of fresh peach.
